These home made traditional indian wholewheat roti breads will go superbly with home made curries.

Roti

Makes 10

225g whole wheat flour

150ml water

Vegetable oil or ghee

A little extra flour for dusting

Place the flour and water in a bowl add 1 teaspoon of oil into the mix and knead into a soft dough. Leave the dough covered for 30 mins.

Knead the dough again for 10 mins then divide the dough into 10 dough balls dust the bench and flatten the dough balls into discs use a little more flour if needed. Using a rolling pin roll the dough out into round flat pancake shapes. Heat a pan or griddle then cook roti on medium heat for about 30 seconds and watch for little bubbles to appear, then turn the bread over and cook until brown spots appear on the underside press the sides of the roti with a clean teatowel and turn the roti over once more and if the dough is good it should puff up. remove the roti when it is a little brown and cooked.
